About KOHO
KOHO Financial is a Toronto-based fintech (neobank) founded in Vancouver in 2014 by Daniel Eberhard and co-founders, offering a spending/savings account with a prepaid Mastercard, cash back, interest, and credit-building products. It is not itself a bank: cards are issued and customer funds held by Peoples Trust Company, a federally regulated CDIC member, with interest-earning balances held in trust. Its application for a Schedule 1 bank licence was in late-stage OSFI review (Phase 2) as of 2025-2026.
